We saw success in the offing
When president started doffing
I counted on BB floor-crossing
And Mian Sahib boycotting
The illiterate came for voting
So much for ‘peoples’ mandate’

I was a great planner
Tried abuse and slander
To arouse peoples’ anger
As it used to work earlier
But it proved a non-starter
And the masses were irate

Too much work little wages
I had not slept for ages
Take rest, said the sages
The destiny is in the pages
The results came in stages
But finally did make me sedate

I always had a grand vision
All policies needed revision
Elders made wrong decision
I was faced with derision
But did not fear collision
I even lost my would-be mate
