Extraordinary Rendition

By: Hakim Hazik

The first mouth watering tranche of American greenbacks is about to arrive. O, the intoxicating smell of freshly minted dollars, from the perfumery of the Federal Reserve Board. How our diligent ministers have waited for this manna from heaven. This ransom will many coffers fill. The mansions, the farmhouses and the bank accounts will be filled to the brim with prosperity and good cheer.

And have we not waited long enough for some respite. Many of our ministers have not had a foreign holiday for months. Their human development index is languishing among the worst in the community of nations. The sums of money our leaders are able to embezzle are derisory as compared to the established world leaders such as Mobuto, Marcos, Berlusconi and Prince Bandar.

Our politicians, mandarins and generals have given great sacrifices. Their endurance is almost exhausted. Now is the time to make the essential investments for nation building such as Lear jets, bullet proof cars, land grants to raise horses, residential real estate, underground silos for thermonuclear patakhas, command and control for our strategic assets.

It helps to maintain the fiction of schools and hospitals, roads and power projects, supremacy of the civil society and the rule of law. Stuff and nonsense. Who ever heard of such drivel? Only in the twisted minds of American law makers can such bizarre ideas arise. How can they expect a sovereign state to give in to these humiliating conditions?

All sovereign nations have a god given right to starve, torture, kill, maim and bomb their citizens if they interfere with nation building projects such as golf courses and farm houses. Any attack on this right is an attack on our sovereignty. All parties should be aware of it, so that there is no misunderstanding and bilateral relations can continue to flourish on the basis of mutual respect and equality.

Of course we need to pay for an elite force of 20,000 crack troops to protect our strategic assets from falling into wrong hands. We need the same force to protect our foreign policy from falling into the wrong hands. The national interest is supreme. The GHQ knows best. No notions of law or democracy or civil rights can be allowed to interfere with the national interest. No civilian is above the national interest. Anyone who is thought to be a security risk will eat dust. The ramparts of the presidential palace will offer no protection.

No Secretary of State can come on a charm offensive, pontificate on her vision of the future and tell us how to spend the money. Nobody can tell us not to divert the money to the underground facilities in the Salt Range or to Chagai. We will do whatever we need to do in the national interest. We are the sons of the soil. We are the salt of the earth.

The GHQ is watching with an eagle eye. Our national strategic assets, essential organs of the state and essential organs of the state officials are all in safe hands.
